Southern Railway decided to appoint 140 women constables and also personnel of other ranks has been sanctioned under RPF’s Mahila Vahini ’, a famous News paper reported. The details are following,
This was disclosed by S.C. Parhi, Chief Security Commissioner, RPF, Southern Railway on Wednesday. Replying to reporters’ questions on the response from RPF to the Swathi murder case and what plans they had formulated to step up resources, Mr. Parhi said that once their training was completed, they would be recruited and deployed in all divisions of Southern Railway. The all-women contingent was sanctioned by the Central government, he said.
They will travel in women’s compartments apart from offering assistance to women passengers in both suburban and long distance trains, Mr. Parhi said.
Further, the Director General of RPF had sanctioned one company of Railway Protection Special Force comprising 140 men and this contingent would add to the existing strength, the officer said.
The manpower shortage in the Souhtern Division was overcome with the appointment of over 1,100 constables last year. One company of Railway Protection Special Force comprising 140 men has been sanctioned
